Early education computer: Mac or PC?

Talk about opening up a can of worms! I received an email question over the weekend that is a facet of what must be one of the most heated debate topics in the online world: whether a Mac is better than a PC for a student. In this particular case, the person writing is interested in early education, but the question - and the answer - is the same regardless of age group or skill level, in my opinion:
